Injectable Cosmetic Medicine

injectablesAging is inevitable, however with the help of modern medicine, our skin care professionals have a better understanding of the causes of facial aging, and can significantly help you improve the appearance of nasolabial folds, marionette lines, frown lines, crows feet, volume loss and deep facial lines and wrinkles without a scalpel.

At Nu Image MD our trained and licensed medical professional will add volume, create angles and freeze aging time with injectable cosmetic medicine. Our injectable menu offers products that focus on those unwanted  wrinkles and the muscles that cause lines to form. Injectable fillers such as Radiesse, Juvederm and Restylane plump up wrinkles and areas of volume loss, while denervation agents such as Botox and Dysport relax the muscles. This helps to temporary eliminate lines or make them less prominent.

Botox and Dysport.

Botox and Dysport are Botulinum Toxin type A injectable solutions that temporarily block muscle movement, which helps to prevent lines and wrinkles from forming.Injections are fairly painless and have low risk of side effects, with little-to-no downtime. They generally make subtle changes and may give you younger, well-rested, more vibrant, refreshed look. Some bruising may occur in the areas of injections, this usually lasts just a couple of days. Unfortunately, the effects of injections are temporary, and will only last 3 to 6 months (individual results may vary). But depending on the strength of your facial muscles, and as you continue having Botox or Dysport treatments on regular basis, you may experience longer lasting results.

You may consider botulinum toxin injections if you are in good general health, and are developing lines and wrinkles in parts of face with most movement, such as:

  • Forehead
  • Glabella (area between the eyebrows)
  • Crow’s feet
  • Down-turned corners of the mouth
  • Chin dimpling
  • Gummy smile

At Nu Image MD beyond treating signs of aging, we also use botulinum toxin to improve hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) of underarms, hands and feet.

Botox and Dysport injections may take up to two weeks to reach the full effect, and the amount of units may vary individually. A two-week follow up is recommended to determine if unexpected muscle movement is present, and if injections of additional units are required (touch-ups). Because the effect of botulinum toxin is temporary, it is advisable to set a schedule for additional injections.

Dermal Fillers.

Fillers are minimally invasive type of cosmetic procedure used to fill in deeper lines and wrinkles, add volume to lips, improve appearance of acne scars, and shape the contours of the face. Dermal fillers are very popular cosmetic procedures, due to immediate results, few risks of side effects and little downtime. They can be injected in the face, neck and hands for fuller, smoother, younger look.

Unlike Botulinum Toxin injections that relax muscle under a line, injectable fillers fill in the treated area. Dermal fillers can be of different thickness and the thicker is the filler the deeper it is injected. The procedure usually takes about 30 minutes and the results can last for over a year. Dermal fillers will give you an immediate younger, plumper look for a fraction of a price of a traditional plastic surgery. Dermal fillers can help to lift and add volume to cheeks, jawline, lips, hands, marionette lines, etc. In some cases however a surgical lift would be a more advisable option.

Even though you are likely to see results immediately after the procedure, it is not unusual for swelling and/or some bruising to occur.  These side effects generally become less and less prominent and finally disappear within 7 to 10 days. The swelling can be reduced with an ice pack or a cold compress

If you are in good general health and have realistic expectations of your appearance, you may be a candidate for dermal fillers to improve or correct your appearance. The type of filler you receive will determine how long the results will last. Your medical provider and you will determine, which one of the fillers we offer, will best suit your needs.

Radiesse.

Radiesse is a calcium based dermal filler, which is expected to provide a long lasting effect. It generally lasts for a year or even more. The filler works immediately, so the results are instant. It does not usually cause immune or allergic reaction, since calcium is naturally found in our bones. When your body breaks down the material it is made of, it promotes collagen production, which leads to longer lasting results. Generally it is injected deeper underneath the skin to improve deep imperfections, acne scars, marionette lines andadd volume to nasolabial folds, cheeks etc.

It does more then just temporary fill in lines and wrinkles, it helps to rebuild your skin within, by stimulating collagen production and promoting tissue regeneration. Your skin keeps producing natural collagen for several months, which helps to extend the effect of Radiesse and make your treatment more cost-effective in comparison with other temporary dermal fillers. Individual results may vary, but Radiesse natural results were clinically proven to last a year or more in most patients.

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers.

Hyaluronic acid fillers have become the most popular type of dermal fillers over the past several years. They may be a good choice because they are compatible with human body. When the gel is injected, it works as expanded pillow, supporting facial structures and tissues that may have lost volume or elasticity because of aging. Hyaluronic acid fillers are used to instantly smooth moderate to severe lines and wrinkles, add volume to your lips, cheeks, nasolabial folds, cheekbones, marionette lines, vertical lip lines etc. Individual results may vary but, typically, Juvederm may last up to a year, Restylane up to 6 months.

Restylane.

Restylane is a clear gel filler made of non-animal based hyaluronic acid. Even though it is most commonly used to enhance and shape lips, it is also indicated to treat medium to severe lines and folds on forehead, crow’s feet, frown lines, lines around the mouth, nasolabial folds and marionette lines. It is a non-surgical facial treatment with a quick recovery process. Restylane not only improves unwanted lines and wrinkles, but also helps to moisturize and lubricate the skin, making it feel and look more youthful.

To determine if you are a good candidate for the treatment, you should consult the medical provider that will administer it. Make sure to not take aspirin or any aspirin related medication, as well as vitamin E prior to the procedure to avoid any excessive bleeding, swelling or/and bruising. Allergy testing is not required prior to the injections, since the hyaluronic acid is naturally found in a human body. The results may vary from patient to patient, and could last up to 6 months.

Juvederm.

Juvederm is a smooth gel, also made of hyaluronic acid. This dermal filler is used to fill in unwanted lines and folds, and to add volume to parts of face that started to lose fatty tissue due to the natural aging process. It is the most popular hyaluronic acid dermal filler today because of its longer lasting results. Unlike Restylane that lasts up to 6 months, Juvederm could last up to a year. It provides plumper, more youthful, yet subtle look. You can contour your face by “volumizing” cheekbones, cheeks, jawline, lips, nasolabial folds etc. It is also used to fill in deeper lines on forehead, around the eyes and between eyebrows. Juvederm is indicated to temporary improve medium to severe lines and folds with little to no downtime.

The hyaluronic acid, this filler is made of, attracts water, which helps to hydrate, moisturize and add volume to the treated areas, smoothing down any surface lines, wrinkles and folds. The treatment may take 15 to 30 minutes, and the recovery process is usually fast. Just like with any other dermal filler, you want to stay away from aspirin related drugs and vitamin E, to prevent excessive bleeding, swelling and bruising.
